Hometown Heroes Program
The Florida Hometown Heroes Housing Program helps make homeownership more affordable for eligible workers in the community. This program offers down payment and closing cost assistance to first-time, income-eligible homebuyers, helping them purchase a primary residence in the community where they work and serve. The Florida Hometown Heroes Program also provides a reduced interest rate on the first mortgage and additional special benefits for those who have served or are currently serving their country.

Program Details
- Eligible full-time workers employed by a Florida-based employer can receive below-market interest rates on FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, or Freddie Mac first mortgages, along with reduced upfront fees, no origination or discount points, and assistance with down payments and closing costs.
- Borrowers are eligible for up to 5% of the first mortgage loan amount, with maximum assistance of $35,000, to cover down payment and closing costs.
- Down payment and closing cost assistance is provided through a 0% interest, non-amortizing second mortgage with a 30-year deferral. This second mortgage is due in full if the property is sold, the first mortgage is refinanced, the deed is transferred, or if the homeowner no longer occupies the property as their primary residence. The Florida Hometown Heroes loan is not forgivable.
